CODE OF ETHICS AND CONDUCT

OF STANTHORPE LITTLE THEATRE COMPANY INCORPORATED

1. Purpose

This Code of Ethics and Conduct provides guidance to members and volunteers of the Stanthorpe Little Theatre Company Incorporated (Theatre), fostering a positive, respectful, inclusive and safe environment where creativity and collaboration can thrive.

2. Scope

This Code applies to all members and volunteers, including, performers, directors, crew, front of house participants and committee members, in all Theatre-related activities.

3. Core Values

       a.    Respect: Treat everyone including members, volunteers and audience members with courtesy, kindness and consideration.
       b.    Integrity: Be honest, fair, and transparent in all interactions.
       c.    Inclusivity: Embrace diversity and ensure equal opportunity for all.
       d.    Responsibility: Taking ownership of your actions and commitments.
       e.    Collaboration: Work cooperatively to support each other and the theatre’s artistic and organisational goals.
       f.    Pride: the Little Theatre brings the performing arts to life in Stanthorpe and each member and volunteer takes pride in their association with the Theatre.

4. Conduct Expectations

       a.    Every production of the Theatre will be subject to an open audition and the director’s decision on casting will be final.
       b.    Every person offered a role in a production of the Theatre must be or become a member of the Theatre before accepting their offer.
       c.    Every cast member must:
                i. rehearse and perform with professionalism and punctuality: and
               ii. follow the advice of directors respectfully.
      d.    All persons involved in a production or event at the Theatre must:
               i. refrain from any form of harassment, bullying, or discrimination;
              ii. always use respectful language and behaviour at all times;
             iii. always ensure that you maintain appropriate personal boundaries having regard to any roles you play;
             iv. care for costumes, props and shared spaces; and
      e.   All persons must ensure all activities within the theatre precinct are lawful and align with community standards. As a member and or volunteer of the Theatre take pride in and represent the theatre positively in   public and help to make the Theatre a safe, welcoming place for all.

5. Safety and Wellbeing

      a.    Ensure that you are aware of and comply with all relevant safety regulations and Theatre rules while undertaking any role at the Theatre both onstage and offstage.
      b.    You must ensure the security of Theatre premises by handling access codes responsibly and if you are the last to leave the Theatre make sure that all points of access are secured.
      c.    The Theatre has a zero-tolerance policy to the use of drugs on and at Theatre premises and the undertaking of any role at the theatre while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
      d.    Only members and volunteers trained in the use of sound and lighting equipment are authorised to use the Theatre’s sound and lighting equipment and only for authorised purposes.
     e.    Only use ladders and power tools when there is another member or volunteer present.
     f.    If you are an adult involved in a production with children at the Theatre you must have or obtain a volunteer’s blue card.
     g.    All persons will immediately report accidents, hazards, or misconduct you become aware of.
     h.    All persons will support the physical and mental wellbeing of all people you are participating with whether cast, crew or front of house.

6. Privacy and Confidentiality.

    a.    All cast members including prompts must ensure that you keep scripts, casting decisions and internal information confidential.
    b.    All persons must respect the privacy and confidentiality of any information shared with them by other members and volunteers.

7. Conflict Resolution

All concerns should be raised respectfully with the President. If necessary, a confidential process will be started to address the issue.

8. Breaches

Breaches of this Code may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or removal from the Theatre group depending on the circumstances and in accordance with the Theatre’s constitution.

9. Acknowledgement

All members are expected to read, understand and commit to this Code of Ethics and Conduct upon becoming a member of the Theatre
