Volunteers are the lifeblood of any community group or organisation. As a community theatre, we simply could not operate without the kind and generous donations of time, expertise, and know-how that our volunteers bring.
You don’t need to be a member to be part of a performance – but it’s always wonderful to have you as part of the team!
There are many ways you can volunteer and assist with the theatre – and it’s not just about performing.
Tech Crew
We are always on the lookout for dedicated sound and lighting volunteers. With our new LED system and exciting capabilities for both sound and lighting, these roles have become more specialised and require training. Comprehensive workshops will be held throughout the year, catering to various levels of expertise, so you can safely and confidently operate the equipment. Keep an eye on our newsletters and Facebook page for updates and dates.
FOH (Front of House)
With our bar and snack area growing in popularity for pre-show and interval service, we need dedicated volunteers to assist. The role includes:
- Checking tickets
- Pouring wine and making simple cocktails
- Selling raffle tickets
- Liaising with the stage manager and tech team
- Using an iPad or screen for our point-of-sale system
If you don’t have your RSA, the theatre will cover the cost of your online training, as all FOH volunteers must hold an RSA to assist. Specialised training sessions will also be scheduled throughout the year to upskill volunteers in FOH procedures and processes.
Stage Management
Stage managers are vital to the smooth running of our productions. This role involves coordinating between the director, tech crew, and cast, ensuring everything stays on schedule during rehearsals and performances. Volunteers with strong organisational skills and a calm presence are encouraged to join. Training will be provided for those new to the role.
Backstage
Backstage volunteers are key to bringing productions to life behind the scenes. Responsibilities include setting up props, moving scenery, and assisting with costume changes during performances. It’s the perfect role for those who love being part of the action without stepping on stage.
Costumes
Our costume volunteers play an essential role in designing, creating, and maintaining the wardrobe for our productions. Whether you’re a skilled seamstress or simply enjoy organising and helping with fittings, this is a creative and rewarding way to be involved in the theatre.
Make-Up
Make-up volunteers help transform our performers into their characters, using techniques that work with stage lighting and effects. From subtle enhancements to dramatic transformations, this is an exciting opportunity for anyone with a flair for creativity and attention to detail.
No matter your interests or expertise, there’s a role for everyone at the theatre. Join us and be part of the magic!
